A temporary employment agency (or “temp agency”) offers employment services to jobseekers who are looking for a short term contract (hence “temporary”!). Fairly self explanatory!

But! There are some issues that job seekers should be aware of when dealing with a temp agency.

Firstly, a temporary employment agency is not an easy step to a permanent job - it is very much a short term solution.
More often than not, your temp assignment will have you filling a gap in your workplace and you will find yourself obsolete at some point. Perhaps the worker you are replacing has returned? Perhaps the project you were working on has been completed?

Whatever the reason, job seekers should be aware that getting employment through a temporary agency usually will not result in a permanent job.

Think about it. You wouldn’t go to a Marketing employment service and expect to find an IT job now would you?

The next issue with temp employment agencies is that due to the nature of their business, they will have a high turnover of candidates. You thought normal employment services were lax in returning your calls? Don’t be surprised to find the personal contact with the agency to be left….wanting!

(That said there are a lot of quality temporary employment agencies out there who do make a concerted effort to work for the temp!)

Most temp agencies have a condition in their contract stating that the employer can’t hire you within a certain amount of time (a month or so).

Temping can be a great way to get work experience, but it does have it’s ups and down - job seekers should deal with temporary employment agencies with their eyes wide open!

We are looking for a Trainer on behalf of our client, Wireless Generation.

This position is based in Brooklyn, NY.

Wireless Generation’s Professional Services team provides innovative services that empower K-12 educators to use data-driven strategies to improve student outcomes. This is the newest department in a company that has long focused on providing mobile assessment solutions to schools. WGPS seeks a Curriculum and Professional Development Consultant to provide content expertise and leadership around our new offerings.

Successful candidates will have experience in providing both K-12 classroom instruction and adult professional development, preferably centered around educational technology products. They will be strong facilitators, skilled at leading training sessions as well as more consultative group meetings with educators.

They will be flexible in their approach, able to react to various participant styles, environments, and technologies.

Responsibilities:

-Conduct training for groups of 15-25 participants (e.g. teachers, coaches, data specialists, administrators, Central Office personnel) using participatory, active learning techniques -Promote adoption of ARIS system through professional development experiences with various groups of educators

-Facilitate discussions with groups of school and district personnel to analyze data to find root causes and determine next steps to achieve better student outcomes

-Provide feedback to Content Development team about the effectiveness of training materials, and suggest improvements for future versions

-Contribute to curriculum design and training materials development between training sessions as time permits

Job Requirements

-5+ years work experience, including K-12 teaching, coaching, and/or administration experience

-Bachelors degree required Masters degree in education or adult learning preferred -Experience providing training / professional development on technology products

-Solid understanding of adult learning principles

-Proven presentation skills

-Ability to facilitate conversation among groups of educators

-Excellent written and verbal English skills; written and verbal Spanish skills are a plus

-Enthusiasm for and comfort within fast-paced, entrepreneurial company culture

-Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly

-Fluency with MS Office suite a must; fluency with Adobe Design Creative Suite or other design programs a strong plus

Responsible for general oversight of the entire Dean of Students Office budget, including the central office and all departments including Recreation Services, which is an auxiliary enterprise.

Working with staff in the departments, this position is responsible for projecting, analyzing, preparing, maintaining, updating and performing other duties related to budget management. Serve as the Human Resource contact for DSO on the VPSA committee, evaluate, and provide training to the areas under DSO relating to HR issues and forms.

This position is also responsible for computer hardware replacement and for the contract related to web development.

Indirectly supervise and train merit staff on budget and human resource related issues. This person attends Dean of Students Office Management Team meetings to share updated budget, human resources and foundation policies.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related discipline. Five years of comparable experience in office management, with responsibilities in areas such as budgeting, accounting, purchasing, personnel and information systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with office computers and networks.

General and cost accounting experience and budget preparation/financial analysis including experience with bonds, debt service, pro formas and funding related to capital expenditures. Supervision experience. Property management or fiscal management experience at a university or college.

When looking for a job, the interview is the decisive element of the whole process.

Knowing how to read an advertisement is the first step, and preparing a good curriculum vitae is necessary in order to be called for an interview. However, the real passport of the whole process is the first interview - the first effective performance you will have to “win the position”. This is why we will dedicate this section to the first interview in the selection process.

It is not always the case, but in general, after the first round of interviews, there can be a second round, there’s a psychological evaluation and finally, the job offer.

In this section we will provide you with a few tips in order for you to face a work interview in a positive way: how to get prepared, how to dress, the type of interview questions to expect, and advice about the things you can ask and everything you SHOULDN’T ask during the interview.

In addition to knowing how to listen, it is very important to know how to communicate. Communication is a lot more than words.

Language:

Speak using correct English. People commonly use expressions that are a product of the deformation of language to people they are familiar with or when they are in an informal environment. Don’t treat your interviewer in a familiar way - you should speak in proper English throughout the interview. What is hashing?

To hash means to grind up, and that’s essentially what hashing is all about. The heart of a hashing algorithm is a hash function that takes your nice, neat data and grinds it into some random-looking integer.

The idea behind hashing is that some data either has no inherent ordering (such as images) or is expensive to compare (such as images). If the data has no inherent ordering, you can’t perform comparison searches.

If the data is expensive to compare, the number of comparisons used even by a binary search might be too many. So instead of looking at the data themselves, you’ll condense (hash) the data to an integer (its hash value) and keep all the data with the same hash value in the same place. This task is carried out by using the hash value as an index into an array.
